Qin Yan

Chairman and CEO
- Ph.D. from the University of Science and Technology of China, Senior Engineer, Shenzhen High-level Leading Talent.
- Dr. Yan is the co-founder of GeneMind Biosciences, with overall responsibility for corporate strategic planning and operational management. He has long-standing expertise in gene sequencing technology. He currently serves as Director of the Guangdong Engineering Technology Research Center for Single-Molecule Sequencers and Reagents, and Director of the Guangdong Shenzhen Academician Workstation.
- Dr. Yan has led multiple research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation and Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Program. As a core member, he has participated in major national initiatives including the National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, key research projects of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the National 863 Program. He has also contributed to the formulation of national and industrial standards, such as Biotechnology Massively Parallel Sequencing Part 1: Nucleic Acid and Library Preparation and Identification of Rice Varieties and Their Essentially Derived Varieties Using MNP Marker Method. He acts as a review expert for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, an appointed expert for the Shenzhen Expert Database on Standards, and an external supervisor for the University of Science and Technology of China, Zhejiang University and Southeast University. To date, he has published 18 SCI/EI papers and holds 85 authorized invention patents. His honors include “Guangdong Innovation Pioneer”, “Zhu Liangyi Analytical Instrument Innovation Award Young Innovator Award”, and “Shenzhen Enterprise Innovation Record Outstanding Contributor to Innovation”.
Lei Sun

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
- Expert in sequencing chips and sequencing chemistry. B.S. in Materials Science from the University of Science and Technology of China, M.S. in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University, USA.
- Mr. Sun has nearly 30 years of profound expertise in biochips, fluorescent sequencing reagents and nanoparticle technologies. Prior to joining GeneMind Biosciences, he worked at globally-renowned enterprises including Amersham Pharmacia, GE and Intel. In 2007, he joined PacBio as an early core member, taking part in the full-cycle R&D and commercialization of PacBio’s third-generation sequencers from the first-generation PacBio RS through the Sequel series. He possesses world-class technical vision and engineering experience in sequencing chip design, chemical reagent development and sequencing system architecture. He holds more than 20 patents.
Zhiliang Zhou

President
- Joint-training Ph.D. (Computational Optics) from the University of Science and Technology of China and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. High-level Talent of Luohu District, Shenzhen. Expert in computational optical imaging.
- Dr. Zhou brings over 10 years of R&D and management experience. He previously served as the lead for computational light-field research at the Institute of Optics and Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and was a core member establishing the CAS Key Laboratory of Computational Optical Imaging. As a principal investigator, he has undertaken multiple national-level research programs including the National 863 Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and National Key R&D Program of China. He has led the development of multiple high-end precision optical instruments and sequencing systems, such as total-internal-reflection fluorescence microscopes, digital light-field microscopes, single-molecule gene sequencers, and high-throughput gene sequencers. He has accumulated extensive experience in bio-optical imaging and the engineering implementation of gene sequencing. To date, he has published 19 academic papers and holds 24 authorized patents.
Zefei Jiang

VP, Engineering & Manufacturing
- Master’s degree from Harbin Institute of Technology; expert in medical device system design and integration.
- Mr. Jiang has many years of in-depth experience in medical device development. Prior to joining GeneMind Biosciences, he worked for a leading Chinese medical device company, taking charge of system design and integration for multiple large-scale medical instruments including fully automatic biochemical analyzers and fully automatic chemiluminescence immunoassay analyzers. Later, he led R&D for gene sequencers at a top Chinese genomics company. He possesses solid engineering delivery capabilities covering complex medical device product development, cross-disciplinary system integration and end-to-end project management, and holds multiple filed patents.
Fang Chen

Vice President of Chemical R&D (VP, Chemistry)
- BSc in Chemistry from University of Science and Technology of China, Ph.D. from North Carolina State University, USA. Senior Engineer. Recognized as a High-level Talent of Luohu District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. External Supervisor at Southeast University. Expert in sequencing chemistry and system integration.
- Dr. Chen serves as the Principal Investigator for the Key Special Project of “Frontier Biotechnology” funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. He brings nearly ten years of R&D and management experience in sequencing chemistry. He built and led multidisciplinary cross-functional teams to tackle a series of core technologies including fluorescent-modified nucleotides, functional enzymes, microarray chips, surface modification & amplification, and high-precision algorithms. He spearheaded the R&D and productization of the chemical system for the world’s first clinically-approved single-molecule sequencer and its supporting reagents. He also advanced the industrialization of the company’s full-range NGS products from low-throughput to ultra-high-throughput platforms. His research findings have been published in top-tier international journals such as Nature. And he boasts profound multidisciplinary experience in R&D and industrialization.
Zhou Xiao

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
- Secretary to the Board of Directors. Holds a Master of Science in Finance and an MBA from the University of Houston, USA
- Mr. Xiao brings solid professional expertise in capital markets and financial management. Prior to joining GeneMind Biosciences, he worked at Sinopec Finance Co., Ltd., and accumulated extensive working experience in investment banking at securities firms. He has in-depth knowledge of corporate financing, capital operations and financial risk management, and provides robust financial support for the company’s development strategy.
